Art of the Ocean
Spring 2019
All students in grades K-6 made amazing ocean inspired art this spring. Some learned about Robert Wyland's murals and his love of the ocean and mission to educate about conservation. Some learned about the Washed Ashore project, where a group of artists make sculptures from beach trash. Others looked at children's books about ocean life, such as Rainbow Fish, Only One You, and Mr. Seahorse. Grades 4 and 5 looked at fish sculptures by John Vidakovic and made their own versions, with their own creative spin. Kindergarten made jellyfish inspired by glass artist Rick Satava. In the end, I think many gained a new appreciation for the ocean and it's creatures.
